He and they doth protest too much

Before the "lefties" jump all over this guy, consider:
Republican Senator John Ensign began the affair with the staffer several months after he separated from his wife. When Ensign reconciled with his wife, the sources said, he gave the aide a severance package, and the two parted ways.

He doesn't owe anybody a public apology.

Ha. Well, this fella's only been a Senator since 2001, so he couldn't have been among the DOMA posse.
