On Wednesday, Alaska governor and McCain veep Sarah Palin awarded a potential $30 billion contract — including a 500 million dollar advance — for construction of a 1700-mile pipeline between Prudhoe Bay and Alberta to TransCanada Corp., based in Calgary.
Technically, it's not shipping jobs "overseas."

That's more foreign policy experience than Obama has...
I guess we'll learn more about that on Oct. 2.
It's a smart move, lock in labor rates while the U.S. Dollar still has 500 pips on the Loonie.
TransCanada is an owner/engineer, and subs all the labor out to pipeline contractors, but I'm sure the exchange rate was a factor.
Although a couple of the other bidders (including Houston's ConocoPhillips) said they couldn't meet the technical specifications.
How dare we do business with Canada!! They are part of the Axis of Intoxication you know....always giving you that smug look, like..."oh you're going to buy delicious Molson products...." Damn evil Canadians!
Fear not, the gas is destined ultimately for the continental U.S. of A. once it hits the distribution facilities in Alberta. But it will be lots and lots of work for the Canuckians.
Glad to see she is all for McCain's economic failure to recover plan.
