Conservatives labor to rid Bible of Jesus

He can be such a pain:
Socialistic terminology permeates English translations of the Bible, without justification. This improperly encourages the "social justice" movement among Christians.
Behold, the Conservative Bible Project.

Some things, you think you really should be surprised by.

I can't help but reflect on the wise words to be found in... old episodes of Yes, Minister.

Sir Humphrey Appleby: Indeed – it could be argued that the Sermon on the Mount, had it been a government report, would almost certainly not have been published. A most irresponsible document. All that stuff about the meek inheriting the earth could do irreparable damage to the defence budget.

As Tom Lehrer observed when Henry Kissinger was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, satire is obsolete.

That's like the old joke about the sign in the lobby of the Unitarian church: "Bible Study after service today. Bring your own Bible and a pair of scissors."

Or bring a Jefferson Bible.

If Jefferson took out the crazy supernatural parts and left the generic Jesus helps-others parts, and the conservatives started with the Jefferson Bible, I wonder what would be left after they removed all that personal socialism.

The Jefferson County Bible?

Not quite Jefferson County, but it's pretty close... the Edgerton Bible case.
