Shorter John Cornyn

"I'm appalled by the fact that the law changes, but I'm grateful that the U.S. Supreme Court changed the law in favor of the firefighters."

That's as good as this farce: "I'm a judicial conservative who believes that a court's job is to apply the law, not make it." J. Gableman, on the campaign trail. "But I'd like to throw out the state's 40 years' worth of product liability law right now." J. Gableman, paraphrased, from Horst v. John Deere, released yesterday.

John "Box Turtle" Cornyn (look it up, it's hilarious, in a horrifying kind of way) is an empty suit and an embarassment to Texans everywhere. Of course, it's good news for Democrats that he's head of the RSCC; I look forward to an extremely solid filibuster-proof majority after the 2010 elections.

"It does not affect your daily life very much if your neighbor marries a box turtle. But that does not mean it is right ... Now you must raise your children up in a world where that union of man and box turtle is on the same legal footing as man and wife."

GOP Race Not a Given

Especially with turtles involved.
