John McCain's comedy hour

"This bill failed because Barack Obama and
the Democrats put politics ahead of country."
— McCain campaign statement

"Now is not the time to fix the blame."
— John McCain, one hour later
Who's running that operation, anyway?

The McCain campaign really has become a clusterfuck, hasn't it?

Maybe I haven't been paying attention, but I've never seen anything like it.

Well, hell, Tom, just quote the sentence before: "Senator Obama and his allies in Congress infused unnecessary partisanship into the process. Now is not the time to fix the blame, it's time to fix the problem." It didn't take an hour--it took 1.3 seconds.

McCain's business about Obama "phoning it in" is even better:

Asked why McCain wasn’t making the trek to the Hill, senior adviser Mark Salter responded: "Because he can effectively do what he needs to do by phone."
