Unemployment is up under Walker regime

Notices the Capital Times's John Nichols.

Tengentally related:

Asked if he had the votes to pass [an unemployment insurance extension], Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) said he wasn't sure and he wanted to see what Democrats would do. He blamed Democrats for delaying the bill by playing politics - a charge Democrats deny.

What power of delay the Democrats have is left a mystery. Perhaps they sacrificed a goat to Baal. I guess the rule now is that the lords of FitzWalkerstan can say anything they damn well please without fear of fact check.

Laughable. They don't even pay attention to Democrats. They're playing with their cellphones during committee hearings.

And then there's this beaut in Clay Barbour's paean to "can't we all just get along?" rodneykingism:

Fitzgerald, who has presided over a Senate in which 164 Democratic amendments have been shot down and only one has passed, said those numbers do not shock him. He said 90 percent of the Democrats’ amendments were not serious efforts to improve legislation.

“They were trying to embarrass us,” he said. “They don’t want an honest debate. They just want to get the Senate back.”

Then why didn't those 10 percent of "serious" amendments pass, Tubby?

"They just want to get the Senate back."

Well that much is true.
