An astounding disregard for legal ethics

Few places where spectacle is more shameful than Wisconsin

It's sad, really.
... shortly before the court upheld the new state law eliminating most collective-bargaining rights for public employees.
The court didn't uphold any new State law so much as consecrate the illegal activities of Wisconsin Republicans in the State legislature.
The rule [for judicial recusal] was largely written by a business group that has spent lavishly in judicial campaigns.
Try entirely written and then adopted verbatim (two times).

What is the chance Prosser will finish his term (ten years) - 10%? I'd take under at even odds.

No chance. Prosser will have another anger control episode long before that. You can bank on it. Eventually these will become too much to overlook.

A search for the attorneys with the Troupis law firm (go to, do an 'advanced' search by 'organization' with term "Troupis") one finds:

Hon. Jon P. Wilcox
Troupis Law Office LLC
7609 Elmwood Ave Ste 102
Middleton, WI 53562
Phone: (608) 807-4096
Fax: (608) 836-1240

Maybe he only gets mail there, but if I was an attorney or a client with a case before the court, I would certainly prefer that my firm has some association with a former Justice (he apparently at least gets mail and phone calls there), espeically a former justice who is also a former legislator who was in the same party as J.Prosser. But maybe that helps explain the $375/hr rate the Troupis law firm bills.

I believe Wilcox is "of counsel" there; he's not an associate or partner. Troupis has the only password-protected law office website I've ever seen.

While the Troupis Law Firm, LLC has only been registered with DFI for a year, it would seem that "one of Wisconsin's most successful lawyers" whose high profile work at rates of $295/hr to $375/hr and is thus subjected to media scrutiny as a result would have a more complete web page, see(, including: "Our website is currently under development. Please keep checking back for new information about Jim Troupis Law Office"). Or then again, maybe not.

"[Troupis's $27,000] contract was not drafted or signed until after the work had been performed." Sweet.
