belling, predictably, was crying about how disastrous the appointment of butler would be. but, more interestingly, he also commented on the candidates for u.s. attorney and revealed that alex flynn had represented him in some cases. if i remember right, flynn used to work as a public defender. remember belling's "principled" refusal to support any judicial candidate with that background, because such a person does not share his "values?"

Butler would be a great choice, and it would be nice to see him back on the bench.

Funny. But I'm not sure "consolation prize" needs be factored into whatever evaluations are performed by commissions, Senators, the President, etc.
