But which one is a secret

Reid cites legal authority:
Reid called Burris a "tainted appointment" because of the governor's alleged misconduct, although he said he did not know of anything wrong with Burris himself.
That should narrow the legal authorities down a bit. If I'm not mistaken, Milorad Blagojevich is the one with the authority.

While Blagojevich is the only one who can fill the vacant senate seat, the Senate is well within their right to not allow any appointment to sit. The seat would then be vacant and Blagojevich would have another opportunity to appoint. What a viscous circle.

I don't get it, either. If Burris is a good choice, and it looks OK in my view, why be against it?

An alleged crime makes an appointment tainted. So much for innocent until proven guilty.
