"She makes the Republican Party look inclusive." She makes the party look stupid, a party of the easily manipulated.Sarah Palin was bad for the republic — Peggy Noonan
Impossible. Because clearly, it was fear and loathing from the left.
Except Peggy Noonan's (and other prominent conservatives') various reasons are why the left loves Sarah Palin. And it's hard to imagine anyone happier to see Sarah Palin run for president than Democrats.
eta: Vulnerable GOPs want Palin to stay home — TheHill.com
Hard to believe!
When anyone to the left of, say, Colin Powell makes those very criticisms about Palin, it's because they're misogynist or intolerant or anti-conservative or terrified of "the idea of her".
ReplyDeleteSo -- as I asked Rick Esenberg, but never got an answer: is Noonan now a leftist too?
Of course the reality is exactly what Noonan touches upon: many people who publicly invested in Palin back in 2008 are now committed to mythologizing both her and her defeat, as a humiliating but apparently preferable alternative to admitting their gross -- indeed, grossly irresponsible -- error.
Sure seems that way. The GOP should have taken my advice and nominated Mitt Romney and Christie Todd Whitman. I bet they'd be in the White House today.
ReplyDeleteBut no, they had to court the ever-dwindling base of so-called "values voters." Much like John Ensign and Mark Sanford, I guess.
She is a complete elite confection. She might as well have been a bonbon.
