Defamation suit against Breitblart moves forward

Got to love it.* (Judge Richard J. Leon is a Bush II appointee.)

You remember Andrew Breitblart, he's the belligerent who traveled to Madison from his Los Angeles home to tell Wisconsinites to "Go to Hell!"

* N.B. Mike Gableman didn't win his motion to dismiss either.

Breitblart presents BigJudiciary.com

Via something called "Courthouse News Service" (which is "for lawyers," it says) this report on the Wisconsin Supreme Court's split decision in Wisconsin Judicial Commission v. Michael J. Gableman:
Wisconsin Supreme Court Justices David Prosser, Drake Roggensack [sic] and Annette Kingsland Ziegler agreed that the complaint by the Wisconsin Judicial Commission against Gableman should be dismissed.
Courthouse News Service doesn't even mention that there are three other justices on the court who came to the opposite conclusion, despite entitling the report, "Wis. Justice's Campaign Ad Wasn't Defamatory," the latter theory of defamation being a feature of the competing opinion which the report's author completely ignored.

And to top it all off:
Gableman's ad was in response to a Butler ad claiming that Gableman "coddled child molesters" and had "purchased his job."
Pure falsehood. Louis Butler claimed no such thing.

Quite the "news service" you got there.

Here's a funny video of Breitblart demanding CNN verify its sources.

WISGOP's Reince Priebus in unbelievable outrage

By all accounts, Reince Priebus ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer.
— "Liberty Pundit"

Reince Priebus, the WISGOP chairperson who is seeking to dethrone his former best buddy and current top RNC gaffe machine Michael Steele in an election this month, has got the Base in an uproar again.

Here is Gateway Pundit proprietor Jim Hoft hooting it up via Andrew Breitblart's BigGovernment.com:
The leading candidate in the race — Reince Priebus's law firm supports Obamacare and says its constitutional!
I don't believe Reince Priebus's law firm is the leading candidate in the race, but that's close enough for the Base, apparently.
Yes, you read that correctly.
(Shame about its not being written correctly.)
Reince Priebus's law firm supports Obamacare and says its constitutional.
Boldface (and typo) in original.

This space had found a similar entertainment earlier:

Reince, Priebus & Pelosi LLP.

Arguably fallacious as it is to assign to Reince Priebus his law firm's statement, it's amusing on several levels to see the nut-right deliberately mishandle this information against one of their own.

On the other hand, when the Base discovered Priebus was the "co-author" of a document advising clients on how to obtain the hated federal stimulus funds, another conservative accused Priebus of "scrambl[ing] to scrub" the attribution from the firm's website.

And on a third hand, the firm's advice that the suits challenging Obamacare "have no merit" is mildly comical on its own and I can certainly understand that advice riling the Base especially now that two of the suits challenging the constitutionality of one of its operative provisions are nearing the U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal.

Several RNC hopefuls debate today. Fox News says it will be ugly.*

h/t Breitblart: Outrageous ... unbelievable.

* But spells Priebus's name every way except for correctly.

More out-of-State agitators in Madison

Well, that was fun.

A member of the editorial board of a leading East Coast media elite newspaper came to Wisconsin to tell it how to run its elections, and Andrew Breitblart of Los Angeles, California repeatedly yelled at Wisconsinites to "Go to Hell." Also a lady from Alaska in leather boots and a bump-it screeched something about abortion and Obama also.*

And baldly lied about a "rent-a-mob trashing your Capitol."

I hope every television station in the State replays Andrew Breitblart's "Go to Hell" ranting. It tells you about everything you need to know.

Another of the vagabond nincompoops was from such jetlagged parts unknown that he wound up his abusive soliloquy with a rousing, "Thank you! And good night!" I checked my watch: It was 1:26 p.m.

As for local talent, my friend Capper informs me that WPRI "senior fellow" Christian Schneider complained that the hip musings of James T. "Hip Musings" Harris, who is an internet troll in the employ of Journal Communications, Inc., were drowned out by cowbells, which goes to show you that when given a choice between two species of cacophony, Real Wisconsinites™ have the most impeccable taste.

Even our Republican elected officials were too ashamed to present themselves alongside this dais laden with inchoate, raging hominids.

Not even Glenn Grothman! Now that's saying something.

* One may only speculate as to the genesis of this fish-clubbing** madwoman's amygdalar gesticulations, but apparently one Barack H. Obama, then a State legislator in Springfield, IL, was wary of provisions in a bill being DOA under the governor's pen by dint of the United States Supreme Court's holding in Stenberg v. Carhart.

** Reportedly in a scene from Palin's "reality" teevee series, the half-term governor advises her daughter to beat the living bejeezus out of a cod as a means of assuaging her psychological frustrations.

Or else of vicariously assuaging Palin mère's. Who the hell knows.

Journal Broadcast Group quote of the day

Milestones in shameless self-promotion:
I actually told James about it. He didn't think it was a big deal ... until Sykes called to interview him about it.
Via Folkbum.

Also, the Brawler notes that Charlie Sykes got as thoroughly and completely suckered by Breitblart as the NAACP and Tom Vilsack.

I caught a bit of the kerfuffle on CNN yesterday afternoon. Rick Sanchez and Roland Martin were onscreen, and they had Shirley Sherrod on the phone. Rick Sanchez was telling Ms. Sherrod to pipe down while Roland Martin (sans ascot) continued lecturing her about being careful what she said, because of the Breitblarts and their editing machinery, as if that should be her primary consideration.

Is he kidding? To hell with Breitblart.
"What's striking to me about this Department of Agriculture fracas is that everyone was so quick to jump to conclusions: Someone reports a few ambiguous comments out of context and, before checking with the woman or getting the whole story, concludes: 'She's a racist!'" said Richard Ford, a law professor at Stanford and author of "The Race Card: How Bluffing About Bias Makes Race Relations Worse."

"This is the way race plays out all too often these days — as soon as the accusation of racism is made, good will, the benefit of the doubt, presumption of innocence all go out the window. It's seen as a virtue to jump to the least charitable conclusion when the issue is race — those who reserve judgment are accused of naivete or complicity," he said.
Yup.

Breitblart connects the conspiracy dots

Asked by Fox's Megyn Kelly what motivation the U.S. Attorney would have to make such an effort, Breitblart responded: "Well, it's tied to the Justice Department. And we've been very aggressive in asking Eric Holder to investigate what's seen on the ACORN tapes, and he's ignored it."
America's decadent bastards fearful of top blogger in tinfoil fedora

As a matter of fact the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana, Jim Letten, is a G.W. Bush appointee. And I expect AG Holder has greater concerns than some twit in a pimp hat.

That's it. I wonder what the remaining actual news reporters at the WSJ think about being in that dismal company. Probably not much.

Troupis suggests wing-nut slander suit meritorious

Item: Wis. lawyer holds statutorily authorized recount "frivolous"

Check this out. I haven't heard that much sneering since Rick Esenberg was on Wisconsin Public Radio. Firefighters Local 311 should sue her just for the hell of it. Find a liberal lawyer with an evil sense of humor (which is purt near every one I've ever met) to write an uproarious complaint. I wouldn't worry too much about Scott Walker's new "tort reforms," which instituted money penalties for frivolous actions because if requesting a statutorily authorized election recount is frivolous, then the word has no more meaning.

OTOH the DSM-IV-wn* counsels against fulfilling cries for attention.

See also, Sykes, Charlie: "Litigate everything."

Speaking of Vicki doppelgänger Sykes and firefighters, did you know that there is an amendment to the Ozaukee County building code ordinances which requires two fire extinguishers in Sykes's pants closet — one standard ABC and the other especially for polyester.

eta 01: Wolf on back, snake on chest — Blogging Blue.

I always thought U2 was one of those earnest, emo bands (and don't get me started on the bass player). What sort of person would they make "verbally and physically combative." That's like rioting at a John Tesh concert (which I could understand, but for different reasons).

eta 02: "Vicki McKenna is every bit the journalist that ... David Blaska [is]," writes David Blaska. I think we can all agree on that.

I'm still smarting from Breitblart screaming at me to "Go to Hell."

Breitblart's Big Hitler Wood

Obama legally kills babies and now he can legally kill Grandmas!
With his own bare hands!

Just as Schicklgruber did. Exactly like that.

Would somebody please explain to me why a so-called political conservative would insist that the government force them to suffer with a terminal illness in spite of their express wishes not to.

This is what's known as entrapment

Breitblart-style:
James O'Keefe hoped to get CNN Investigative Correspondent Abbie Boudreau onto a boat filled with sexually explicit props and then record the session, those documents show.
And this is not:
They want to portray me and my friends as crazies, as non-journalists, [and] as unprofessional. — James O'Keefe
h/t Dan Cody.

eta: "O'Keefe might be confused by the Fox News model, where the correspondents don't actually do anything, but CNN's reporters actually go out and report stories. Boudreau has a pretty impressive résumé including actual, real-life versions of the pretend investigations O'Keefe does. (Here, James: This is what a legitimate investigation of a government agency looks like.)" — Alex Pareene

Tea man produces Christ's birth certificate

But I felt [World Nut Daily dot com publisher Joseph] Farah start to lose the room when he entered a long digression on how, in his view, there was more proof that Jesus Christ was born than proof that Obama was born in Hawaii.
At the 600-strong national convention, comparing apples to saviors. Only problem is there's not any proof that Obama's papers are forged or that he was born anyplace other than the U.S. And if Farah takes seriously the competing genealogies recorded on the anonymous papyri, he may very well be a young Earth creationist to boot.

Wisconsin's out-of-State agitators

"Go to Hell!" — Andrew Breitblart of Los Angeles speaks to Wisconsin

The WISGOP and its fellow travelers are currently bitching about out-of-State contributions to efforts to unseat at least three Republican incumbent State Senators on August 9. According to the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign's database, the Wisconsin Supreme Court's Mike Gableman received 32% ($108,500 of $336,367) of his contributions from out-of-State. Of individual contributions valuing $5,000 or greater, Mike Gableman received a total of $130,000, and $95,000 of that (73%) came from out-of-State donors.* So why is the WISGOP bitching now?

What, they don't consider the above money well spent?

Making up the law doesn't come cheap.**

* And $70K of that $95K came rolling in during the waning days of Gableman's campaign, when the candidate was growing so desperate he concocted a teevee ad that three appeals court judges found to have violated two separate provisions of the State code of judicial ethics.

Gableman is classy too, in addition to everything else.

** Nor does playing the role of law maker-upper facilitator.
