Waukesha County GOP victim impact statement

"At this point, I can't drag her back kicking and screaming."
That's Waukesha County District Attorney Brad Schimel, referring in court to an alleged victim of domestic violence, believe it or not.

You've managed to find a real gem of a report, there. As we see repeatedly, getting a restraining order or some jail time for an abuser doesn't prevent the abuser from escalating the violence. Scary. Good for her for getting to Venezuela where hopefully she's safe and a huge fuck you to the dude who used the "kicking and screaming" language. Brazen asshattery.

I do hope she is safe in Venezuela, but that is no guarantee of her safety, since Rodriguez may have family and friends back in his home country that probably know where his ex-girlfriend lives...And they may be very pissed off at her for calling the police on her boyfriend instead of putting up with his violence.

Last year I helped out a woman who had come to this country to be with her husband. When he turned violent and she called the police on him, and he returned to the house she had no safety net here to turn to. Returning to her home country would have put her in danger from her husband's family, who were pissed off at her that he had spent a night in jail and had threatened his status in the country.
