I have to say, Governor Jim Doyle's
release to the press of an uncorroborated letter alleging a dinner and an autopsy date was unnecessary and unnecessarily sensationalistic. The existing evidence is
serious enough without turning this thing into
a circus.
During a news conference Monday, Doyle questioned how the Office of Lawyer Regulation came to its conclusion ...
Now
that is a legitimate inquiry.
If I were the AG, I would fire Bill Cosh for saying stupid things.
ReplyDeleteWhat, about jeopardizing the prosecution? If so, I think he's correct, in that an abundance of caution was warranted (although why the DA was reportedly contemplating reducing the charge to a misdemeanor has yet to be fully explained). In any event, it's lamentable that political considerations are beginning to cloud the core concerns here.

ReplyDeleteDon't his actions explain it? The carrot was Kratz's self-claimed wealth, power and sexuality. The stick was that the guy who just beat the victim up might get a slap on the wrist if the victim didn't cooperate in Kratz's megalomania.
I suppose that is one (extraordinarily grotesque) possibility. There are a lot of factors at play in plea negotiations so I wouldn't even hazard to speculate. But I hope you're wrong.
