O'Donnell garage kills Walker campaign?
However, TMJ-4's report doesn't mention "decorative concrete." (A different Journal-Sentinel reporter calls it a "collapse," which implies a structural failure.) Some people contend it's tasteless to inject politics into what for these victims and their families is undeniably a devastating personal tragedy. Perhaps it is, but it's also inevitable.
Well, I didn't go there so much as WTMJ went there. I just followed.
ReplyDeleteI think Walker's problem is one of connect the dots. When part of the decorative cornice fell off the courthouse in March, I think one could reasonably say "hey, that's just a freak thing, nobody's fault." But then you had the state-ordered repairs at the mental health complex, and now you have this terribly unfortunate incident at the O'Donnell garage.
And now, all of a sudden, you have three dots that can all be strung together as part of a narrative that suggests Scott Walker has let Milwaukee County infrastructure go to hell all in the name of upholding a promise to not raise taxes. And one of those dots is the death of a 15-year-old boy.
Just over a decade ago, the GOP tried to blame Sarah Waukau for the accidental death of her child's friend in their garage. It worked. Will the chickens come home to roost on their golden boy's head? Guess we'll see.
I wasn't accusing you of being tasteless, by the way. To me, it goes without saying that this is a terrible, cruel tragedy for these kids and their families and everybody's heart goes out to them, I am certain.
ReplyDeleteI suppose I should clarify that I wasn't accusing you of not being tasteless either, with reference to Prof. Esenberg's unwarrantedly including me in his list of "ghouls." I don't take a position either way, and leave that determination to the professional moralists.
