Senator moonlights as Diazepam pitchman

Said GOP Senator Pat Roberts of Kansas, "[Obama] needs to take a Valium® before he comes in and talks to Republicans and just calm down, and don't take anything so seriously."
What he means is take everything except Republicans seriously.

Pat Roberts, torture apologist, anti-environment whackadoo, and all-round jackass, explains how Obama just plain old misunderstood what was being said to him. From the longer article:

"The more he talked, the more he got upset," Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) said. “He needs to take a valium before he comes in and talks to Republicans and just calm down, and don’t take anything so seriously. If you disagree with someone, it doesn’t mean you’re attacking their motives — and he takes it that way and tends then to lecture and then gets upset.”

That Obama! Responding to some of the Republicans as if they were rudely attack his motives!

Article continues:

Corker accused Obama of acting “duplicitous” in his calls for bipartisanship, saying that he was trying to cut a deal on regulatory reform only to see the rug pulled out from underneath him. At one point, Corker said Obama was using lunch with Republicans as a “prop.”

Gosh, Pat Roberts being full of shit. Who could possibly have foreseen it.

If he wanted to use it as a prop, he'd have had cameras present, like when he slapped them around at their Baltimore retreat in January.

Instead, he allowed Republicans to use it as a prop, which is how they get to wail about the president being curt and perfunctory and hurting their precious feelings.
