An increase in surface air temperature causes an increase in evaporation and generally higher levels of water vapor in the atmosphere. In addition, a warmer atmosphere is capable of holding more water vapor. The excess water vapor will in turn lead to more frequent heavy precipitation when atmospheric instability is sufficient to trigger precipitation events.Pretty dumb.

ReplyDeleteThe saddest part is that Limbaugh may be lazy and he may not explicitly condescend to his right-wing authoritarian followers, but he isn't stupid. He knows that he's spreading a pile of BS. He knows that he is misleading his listeners and he doesn't give a damn about them or what happens in the future.

ReplyDeleteThat is a pretty good summery of one of the arguments I get from my climate change denying friends- especially when I try to explain that global warming can cause more extreme weather events.
We need every student to learn and master critical thinking before they are set free in the world. I figure eighth grade would be a good time to teach it. Not only would it help us with better policy decisions and politics. but it would also decrease the number of crimes against the credulous.
