Not surprising. I had occasion to pop into Crystal Keith's trial yesterday morning to see and hear a fair chunk of the State's evidence on the charge of torturing* the 2-year-old sister. It was horrific. The jury had likely reached its verdict even by then.
* That's the reporter's language, but it's apt.
I've never understood one thing: if this abuse was as bad as the State is claiming (and this is one of the rare cases where I actually don't think they're exaggerating), how the hell did the Bureau of Child Welfare NOT catch it? I mean, I know they're overworked and underpaid and all, but you'd think they'd have gotten a whiff of some wrongdoing before this happened.
